A group of inner-city high school students from Philadelphia read the novel "You Down With O.P.D.?" in their English class. They were so inspired by its message that they began to discuss the social issues the novel addresses. They set a goal to travel abroad, and they used the principles to make that dream a reality. After successfully raising awareness about the lack of cultural and global exposure granted to inner-city students, these young people raised enough money to travel to Paris and London—a dream come true. It was the novel and their journey that inspired the "Movement".
